Pol was born in Russia and spent 8 years playing basketball at semi-professional level. He moved to the UK to study pharmacy. On paper, everything was moving forward.
He had a severe stutter. Conversations he avoided. Opportunities passed over. Rooms he stayed quiet in, even when he had something worth saying.
In 2020 he walked into his first Toastmasters session. They called him up for a 2-minute speech. 90 seconds in, he had said 2 words. He sat back down.
That was his starting point.
From there he grew a speaking club to over 30 members, won national speaking awards across the UK, Ireland and the USA, and in 2024 became UK and Ireland public speaking champion. He is a practising pharmacist.
